Elmbridge Eagles Awards Day

Elmbridge held their End of regular season Family fun day on Saturday 29th August.

After one of the most toughest seasons in the Club history due to Covid-19. The Club brought it’s regular season to an end. Thanking all volunteers, parents and players for an amazing effort to keep the Club up and running!

There were some fun touch R.L games, walking touch R.L proving a hit with Mums & Dads keen to learn more about Rugby League, as well as the good old fashioned ‘Tugs of war’… with Rugby League being the winner in the end!

As there had been no competitive games or Primary Festivals this year, the Club management after consultation with coaches agreed that it would not be a typical ‘awards’ year for all the sectors of the club.

The Primaries section of the Club were specifically thanks for coming to the Club during difficult time and were presented with mementoes, the Women and Girls section are a fantastic addition to the Club and we hope for great things in the future from this group- the girls were treated to a ‘Good Luck Message’ from Jodie Cunningham, England R.L International and World Cup 2021 Ambassador. The Juniors section were thanked for their resilience and assisting with coaching of the Primaries, the Open Age were thanked for supporting with coaching of the Juniors and the Primary section.

It has been great to see the Club pull together in these tough times and support within their local community by continuing to offer community sporting opportunities. The season has ended with players fit and healthy whilst following and adapting to the changes in guidelines every step of the way since ‘Lockdown started in March 2020. Special mentions were made to all of the U16 age group who complete their journey in the Junior section of the Club and are encouraged/ welcomed to join the Open Age Section next year. 3 U16 players were presented ‘Long Service Awards’’ Evan Hughes, Charlie Mayhew and Ben Waghorn… all three players having played continuously at the Club since the Primaries section… Charlie being the longest serving player and already qualifying for his club testimonial! We hope they will go on to join the open age section of the Club and continue to be young leaders of the club passing on their knowledge and experiences to the younger age groups.
